Uniform for a Hibernation

It’s dark and cold and there’s a “Winter Weather Advisory” on for tonight. I want to curl up and sleep until May.  Lately, getting dressed for work in the morning is a chore, not a joy.  It’s dreary out, and I want to wear yoga pants and a hoodie all day, every day.  (Luckily, today is “jeans day” at work, so I have an excuse to keep my warm cozy snow boots on all day.)

In the winter, it’s hard for me to break away from wearing black turtlenecks every day.  If I had my druthers, I’d spend the next several months in a giant soft cashmere turtleneck dress like this cozy looking number from Haider Ackermann.

Unfortunately, it’s $675, so you won’t see me in that anytime soon.

I LOVE the idea of maxi-length skirts, but I’m not sure I know how to wear them right.  Maxi-length makes me think “tights!” and “comfort!”   I love this Cute to the Coral maxi skirt from ModCloth.

However, left to my own devices with anything ankle-length and brightly colored, I’m afraid I’ll come off looking more like Miss Lippe than a fashion icon.

(Regardless of how poorly I’m dressed, I can promise to avoid the temptation of spreading paste on my face.)

I am also in love with the Abigail dress by Diane von Furstenburg.

The black is perfect for winter, the pink is perfect for spring, so why not wear it year round?

I’m also keen on this Rachel Pally long sleeve caftan dress.

It reminds me of those swirl paintings I used to do as a kid.

But I will put off the thoughts of dresses until next week.  Today, it’s jeans, and tomorrow it’s the weekend (yoga pants! hoodies!)
