One of my 30 before 30 goals is to “Learn to do a Perfect Smokey Eye”. Smokey eye makeup isn’t necessarily fitting for any day or time, and I don’t want to waste my efforts, so I waited until I had a fancy-makeup-occasion to try this out.
I promise that this looked better in real life. I’m just not good at photography and have no idea how to do photo editing.
I followed the instructions in my Sephora Makeup Book.
The instructions were surprisingly easy, and it really did turn out well in real life. I’m terrible at photography, so this just looks like I’m wearing a lot of eyeshadow (which I am), but it was more dramatic and impressive in the for real world. Mr. Beez even told me (unsolicited) that my makeup looked nice.
I’m counting this as an accomplishment. Perfection takes practice, and me practicing this over and over isn’t realistic. I did learn, though, that Sephora offers technique lessons, so I’ll probably sign myself up for a quick lesson in smokey eye makeup. The hardest part for me is always getting the eyeliner just right. I feel like I don’t have enough control over the pencil or brush, and end up with a thick crayon-looking line of liner, instead of a graceful swoop.
